How we write the questions

We start from UHR's material

The test is based on UHR's study material Sverige i fokus, thirteen chapters about Sweden, from geography to traditions. We have made a topic map of the material in our own words: which facts, terms, and context each chapter covers. Every question we write belongs to a topic on that map and to a chapter. We never write a question about something that is not in the material.

We do not copy UHR's text, and we do not have UHR's test questions. No one outside UHR has them. UHR has published five example questions; our questions follow the same form (one question, four options, one correct answer) but are our own.

Written and checked in two steps

The questions are written with the help of a language model, based on the topic map. Then each question is checked by a separate run that has not seen how the question was written, and whose job is to find errors: wrong facts, wrong years, a correct answer that is not clear, or an option that gives away the answer. Only questions that pass this check are published. Whoever writes a fact never checks it themselves.

Right now the question bank has 802 questions, 49 to 70 per chapter, each with an explanation. Every question carries its chapter, so you can always see where in the material the answer comes from.

The translations

The question is always in Swedish, as on the test. The question, options, and explanation are translated into ten languages. Swedish and English are checked by a person. The other nine are machine translated and then checked line by line against the Swedish in a separate step, where the most common errors are a Swedish term translated differently in different places, or only the correct answer getting an explanation in parentheses. How we correct mistakes

Every report is read. A confirmed error is fixed in the question bank and published at the next build, usually within a week. Corrections that change a correct answer are recorded in a log, which we will publish here once it has its first entry.

When UHR publishes new information about the test (time, number of questions, fee, pass mark), we update the site the same day and add the date next to that information. What UHR has not said, we do not say either.

What sets us apart from made-up questions

We say on every page that we are independent. We do not use UHR's name in headings, and we do not use state symbols in our logo. We do not state how many correct answers are required. We do not list questions that do not exist. And we are the only ones who show how the questions are made.
