The format
The test is in Swedish, is written on paper, and has multiple choice questions with one correct answer. UHR's example questions have four answer choices.
The Swedish citizenship test (medborgarskapsprovet) can only be taken in Swedish, not in your first language.

Number of questions and time
The test in August 2026 was a pilot test. According to UHR's information before that test, there were about 60 questions in 90 minutes, and the test was free.
For the next test date, UHR says information about the test time and the number of questions will come. We will update this page and the practice material when the announcement is made.

Pass mark
The pass mark has not been published. UHR says the test in August 2026 was a pilot test, and that the pass mark will be set after the test has been given.
Numbers you may see online, for example that a certain share of correct answers is needed, do not come from UHR.

Two parts
The civics test was held for the first time in August 2026. A Swedish test will be added later. According to Migrationsverket, the Swedish test will be offered at the earliest in autumn 2027.

The study material: Sverige i fokus
UHR's study material is called Sverige i fokus. It is available as a pdf and as audio files, free on uhr.se. The material has 14 chapters: an introduction and 13 chapters about the country, democracy, government, elections, law and justice, the media, human rights, the labor market and personal finance, welfare, modern history, Sweden and the world, religion and secularity, and traditions and holidays.
UHR has also published five example questions in the same format as the test.

Practice tests from sources other than UHR
UHR says there may be practice tests online made by other people or companies, that UHR does not stand behind them, and that the quality is not checked by UHR or any other authority.
This applies to Sweden Test too. Our questions are our own, written based on the topics in Sverige i fokus. No one outside UHR has the real test questions.
